berryRO is a private Ragnarok Online [1] server under construction for Berrytube users.  This page currently serves as a placeholder for the registration form will be updated with as the project nears completion with more information.

Technical

berryRO will use the rAthena[1] server emulator on a Canada hosted VPS..

VPS Specs:

• 2 Xeon vCPU
• 1G ECC ram
• 20GB SSD
• 100Mbit Transfer
• 1 TB monthly allowance

The client build of the game likely to be used is a DIFF modified version of either 2013.08.07 or 2012.04.10.  DIFF patches most likely to be applied include- stability fixes, disable hackshield, remove character limits on any dialogue boxes, custom GRF loading, custom logo or icon, and login screen turned back on.  Any expertise in client modification is sorely needed- it's currently the largest obstacle to getting the server up and running.

Registration

A registration page is pending.  Please note that Ragnarok passwords are not very safe- from the configuration side, one can either md5 hash the passwords (sent in plaintext) in the database they're stored, or the client can send them encrypted to a database that stores them in plaintext.  It does not seem to be possible to do both of these things at once, so regardless of which solution we work with, please make sure not to use this password anywhere else for personal security reasons.

Custom Statistics

The general (and experimental) philosophy behind EXP gain on berryRO is mid to high gain, with significant additional bonuses for leveling in a party.  The numbers will be flexible for testing purposes.  Ragnarok uses an EXP offset in order to increase EXP gain when your kills are split among a party- this multiplier has been increased to critical levels, so leveling with a party is highly preferable to solo leveling.  Item drops are similarly increased several times, and Healing XP is also multiplied.  None of these multiplier rates are uniform or global, and they're subject to change.  If you're leveling alone, you can currently expect a default EXP gain of about 600x the rate of that on official servers.  Compared to high cap private servers that frequently boast of EXP rates of 1,000x or 2,000x the official rate, this is relatively low- but likely still high enough to progress steadily.  Additionally- skill points must be allocated to the job tier they're earned in, and you cannot earn more EXP per kill than that which pushes you to the next level.

PK policy

PvP is allowed globally.  Players killed suffer no penalty of any kind.  Players who kill suffer a minor penalty designed to prevent killing sprees- just enough for shenanigans, not enough for bloodlust.
